First European Surgeries Completed Using Stryker’s Gamma4 Hip Fracture Nailing System

Amsterdam, Netherlands – March 29, 2024 – Stryker (NYSE),

A global leader in medical technologies, has announced the completion of the first European surgeries using its Gamma4 Hip Fracture Nailing System. These surgeries took place at Luzerner Kantonsspital LUKS in Switzerland, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) in Lausanne, and Les Hôpitaux Universitaires de Strasbourg in France. A live broadcast event in Germany on June 4, 2024, will officially launch the system, featuring key insights and case discussions.

The Gamma4 system, designed for treating hip and femur fractures, is based on Stryker's SOMA database, which comprises over 37,000 3D bone models from CT scans. It received CE certification in November 2023 and has been used in over 25,000 cases in North America and Japan. Markus Ochs, vice president and general manager of Stryker’s European Trauma & Extremities business, highlighted the system as a milestone, showcasing Stryker’s commitment to innovation in medical solutions.

The first European surgeries were performed by notable surgeons, including:

These surgeons praised Gamma4 for its tailored approach to unique patient anatomies, intuitive instrumentation, and enhanced surgical outcomes. Following these initial cases, over 35 additional surgeries have been conducted in France, Italy, the UK, and Switzerland.
