Case Sharing | Pingliang City’s first fully visualized spinal endoscopic lumbar disc removal and annulus suturing

Recently, Li Xiaohui, director and deputy chief physician of the Second Department of Orthopedics of Pingliang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, completed the first fully visualized spinal endoscopic lumbar disc removal and annulus suturing in our city. The development of this business is an important step in the development of modern spinal surgery in our hospital. Since the introduction of minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment technology, the in-depth integration of conventional technology in the field of spinal repair and reconstruction technology is another reflection of the improvement of our hospital's professional and technical level, and has effectively promoted the advancement of minimally invasive spine technology in Pingliang City.

Spinal repair and reconstruction is the development direction of spinal surgery. Annulus fibrosus suturing technology is based on various conventional intervertebral disc techniques to suture the annulus fibrosus breach to repair the complete shape of the intervertebral disc and maintain the original physiological function of the intervertebral disc to the maximum extent.

Patient Nie, a 52-year-old male, said that 2 years ago, he gradually developed pain and discomfort in the lumbosacral area without obvious triggers, accompanied by radiating pain in the left lower limb, which could radiate to the anterolateral side of the calf. It worsened after exertion, and when he was lying down and resting It may be relieved slightly, but the above symptoms recur intermittently thereafter. The patient's above-mentioned symptoms worsened after being overworked 3 months before admission. The effect was not good after resting and taking medicine. The pain affected daily life. Recently, he could no longer get off the ground. The VAS score of the pain in his left lower limb was 8 points. In order to seek further diagnosis and treatment, he came to hospital for a medical examination and a physical examination. The tenderness next to the spinous process in the lower lumbar segment was positive, the supine abdominal thrust test was positive, the straight leg raising test on the left side was positive (about 40 degrees), and the skin sensation on the anterolateral side of the left calf was slightly reduced. After completing relevant examinations, the patient was diagnosed as lumbar 4/5 disc herniation. , after general practitioner discussion, it was planned to perform fully visualized spinal endoscopic lumbar disc removal + annulus fibrosus suturing (the ZATH disposable annulus fibrosus suturing device was used during the operation). After the operation, the patient had no obvious discomfort when going to the ground, and the VAS score dropped to 1 point.
